Outlook Download For Mac
We do not recommend that you change the default location of your Profile folder for Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac, or your Identity folder for Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 to an external hard disk or to a network. Additionally, using a mail identity or profile that is located on an external hard disk or on a network is not supported in either version of Outlook for Mac.

Outlook 2016 for Mac caches your mail items in a profile in your home folder at the following location:
~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles
Macintosh HD Users User Name Library Group Containers UBF8T346G9.Office Outlook Outlook 15 Profiles. Delete the folder called Main Identity. Restart Outlook and run the Import wizard again. Click File Import. You should now be able to import your Outlook 2011 data successfully! Question: Q: rebuilding main identity with outlook I have Outlook 2011 for Mac and have had to go through the Rebuild Main Identity procedure 4 times in the last month. Can anybody tell me what is causing this and how to remedy it so that it doesn't happen again?
Outlook for Mac 2011 caches your mail items in an identity in your home folder at the following location:
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities
Like Microsoft Entourage for Mac 2008, Outlook 2016 for Mac and Outlook for Mac 2011 are intended to be purely locally cached mail clients. Changing the location or using a mail identity that is located on an external hard disk or a network is not supported.
Back up Microsoft Outlook data
If you have changed your backup file selection or moved your Microsoft Data File to a different location, verify that the file is included in your backup file selection. For the default location of your Microsoft Data File, see Outlook File Locations below.
Create New Identity Mac Outlook
On Windows, the Code42 app backs up the home folder, including the default location of your Microsoft Data File, by default. So in most cases, your email is backed up automatically and you don't need to take any further action.

To ensure the database and all Outlook data can be recovered, we recommend exporting your Outlook data to an Outlook for Mac Data File (.olm) and backing up that file.
Outlook's Main Identity folder contains a database of Outlook data and many separate data records for emails, preferences, contacts, and other information. Microsoft provides instructions for recovering the Main Identity folder, but it may not fully recover all of your Outlook data, which is why we recommend recovering from an .olm file.
